Research on Key Technology and Equipment for Recovering Valuable Elements from Secondary Resources in Copper Mine, a National Key Technological Project of the 11th Five Year Plan, was checked and accepted by a panel of experts on June 14, 2013. BGRIMM-MAT undertook part of the project associated with equipment development and manufacturing.

Targeted at recovering Cu,Fe,Au,Ag and other valuable elements, technologies were developed for surface treatment and activation as well as efficient flotation with associated modifier and collector. Innovation was made in design like multiple-pole magnetic separation and liquid level control, leading to the successful development of super large-scale DLC1545 (Φ1500x4500) permanent drum magnetic separator. The industrial test of the technologies and equipment was completed.

The research is of significant importance to mine development in China. Tailing can bring remarkable economic benefits if utilized properly, however it will generate pollution to environment if not treated in a right way. Therefore it is urgent to reduce tailing discharge and properly utilize it in an effort to solve the current tailing dam shortage, remove the danger of tailing dam collapse, reduce pollution and recover useful minerals. The technology aimed at recovering copper, gold and silver and DLC1545 (Φ1500x4500) aimed at recovering iron are very valuable for tailing utilization in iron mine, mines of copper, gold as well as other non-ferrous metals.
